This summer has taken on a life of its own. It has been beautiful and full of adventure. It has been painful and sad. I know I have neglected writing, but I have not neglected thinking of you, my dear church.

Today is a little cooler, a little cloudy. This morning I wore jeans AND a sweatshirt. I can’t even remember the last time I did that! It made me think of fall.

I know that for some of you, the word fall brings warm cozy thoughts, while for others it gives rise to feelings of dread. My mind is swirling with appointments and activities I need to make happen before school starts: buying school supplies, registering for this or that sport, and cramming in last-minute summer fun.

For the many of us, the change of seasons brings new opportunities and new routines. Will you pause with me and take the next three weeks to prayerfully consider what God has in store for you in the coming season? Maybe God is calling you to a season of fasting from something. Maybe God is calling you to seek out a mentor. Maybe God is calling you to go into our community and serve. The possibilities are endless with God!

Ladies, we have a limited amount of time in our days. It is so easy for the things of this world to demand time in our schedules. Before we know it, we are exhausted, empty, and wondering what has happened to our time. There are so many good things we can say yes to, but let’s be intentional and leave room in our schedules to say yes to what God has for us.

Ephesians 5:15-17 has this to say: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
